only one block south of Stantonsburg Road and Pitt County Memorial Hospital,
at 801 W.H. Smith Boulevard, the Carolina Radiation Medicine,
Cancer Treatment Center is easily identified by the "Big Red Pyramid"
at the entrance to the clinic.
Upon entering the clinic, you will be greeted by the
clinic receptionist. She will help to ensure that all of your
medical records are in order for your consultation visit. She will be
your main 
contact
for all visits. She knows well all of the procedures which are conducted
in and out of the clinic. You can depend upon her to be sure that all
of your concerns are forwarded to the appropriate person. She will reliably
coordinate all of your appointments and tests which may be ordered by
the doctor.
The waiting areas in the lobby are designed to provide you with a
comfortable environment for each visit to the clinic.
After completing a short questionnaire, your insurance information
will be entered into the computer. At this time your picture will be
taken by the computer camera. At CRM we believe that it is important
that we know you as a person, not by a medical record number.
One part of the computerized network utilized at CRM enables direct communication with the laboratory and other facilities from which medical information, and laboratory results can be obtained as soon as the record or lab result is available. Direct communication with your other physicians and medical information services is utilized extensively. The staff nurse plays an important role in this link. All medical records are computerized, and backed up daily to ensure that all of your important medical information is secure.
At
the end of your consultation visit the radiation oncologist will meet
with you, and any friends or family members who you may wish to join
you. At that time your case will be reviewed, and all of your questions
answered. Treatment recommendations and treatment options will be discussed
with you at this time. The "Family Room" was specifically
designed to provide for an environment more comfortable than a regular
exam room for you to meet with the physician. A brief informational
video outlining the radiation therapy process will be made available
for your viewing at that time.
